In 2016, global LNG trade accounted for 263.6 MT, a 7.5% increase vs. 2015. 39 countries were importing LNG and 19 countries were LNG exporters.
74.6 MT (28%) of global LNG volumes were traded on a spot or short-term basis.
On the supply side, the Pacific Basin was the largest source of LNG supplies with 45% of global volumes.
On the demand side, Asian countries accounted for 72.7% of global LNG imports, on a par with 2015.
At the end of 2016, the total regasification capacity reached 830 MTPA.
The aggregate nominal liquefaction capacity reached 340 MTPA.
