In 2015, global LNG imports increased by 2.5%, reaching their highest level ever. Overall demand declined in Asia (-1.7%), mainly due to decreases in Japan and South Korea. Asia now represents 72.2% of global LNG imports, followed by Europe (15.3%), the Americas (8.5%) and the Middle East (4%). Three new countries (Egypt, Jordan and Pakistan) joined the ranks of LNG importing countries, and Poland imported a commissionning cargo at the end of the year. European net imports grew by 15.8% (5.1 MT), almost half of which can be attributed to a lower number of reloads from the region.
