GIIGNL feedback to the U.S GAO survey on LNG shipping

On June 1, 2015, GIIGNL received a request from the U.S Government Accountability Office (G.A.O) regarding a study they are conducting on LNG carriers & shipping on behalf of the U.S Congress. The study is looking at the potential for using U.S built and flagged vessels for the export of LNG and the G.A.O had been referred to GIIGNL in some of their meetings as a key source on transportation and import of LNG.
After consulting the GIIGNL Executive Committee members, there was a general consensus that the requirement to use U.S built or flagged ships would be anti-competitive and might rather jeopardize U.S LNG exports.
