Japanese companies set up two LNG bunkering JVs

Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha (“K” Line), Chubu Electric Power, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK Line) have established today two Joint Ventures for LNG bunkering business. Following the announcement in January, the four companies have discussed jointly on the commercialization of LNG bunkering business in the Chubu region, located in the center of Japan. Going forward, each of the four companies will utilize its expertise and strengths to propel the “Ship-to-Ship Bunkering” business.
The two joint ventures have been named the Central LNG Marine Fuel Corporation and the Central LNG Shipping Japan Corporation. The first of the two will be running the LNG bunkering business while the second will own the LNG bunkering vessel.
