LNG Trade

Since 1964, over 5 billion tonnes of LNG have been safely delivered around the world.
In 2020, global LNG trade accounted for 356.1 MT, a 0.4% increase vs. 2019.
43 countries were importing LNG and 20 countries were LNG exporters.

142.5 MT (40%) of global LNG volumes were traded on a spot or short-term basis.


On the supply side, the Pacific Basin was the largest source of LNG supplies with 41% of global volumes.

On the demand side, Asia-Pacific countries accounted for 71% of global LNG imports.

LNG Facilities


At the end of 2020, the total regasification capacity reached 947 MTPA.

The aggregate nominal liquefaction capacity reached 454 MTPA.
