Jordan Cove LNG on pause, Annova LNG cancelled

Pembina announced on 27 April the decision to pause the development of the proposed 7.8 MTPA Jordan Cove LNG export project in Oregon, USA, following recent regulatory decisions. A month earlier, Annova LNG announced its decision to discontinue its 6.5 MTPA Annova LNG project, proposed in Texas, due to the changes in the global LNG market.

Total declares force majeure on Mozambique LNG project

Due to security issues in Cabo Delgado province in Mozambique, Total has declared force majeure on the Mozambique LNG project and has withdrawn all the project’s personnel from the site. Total operates Mozambique LNG with a 26.5% participating interest alongside ENH Rovuma Área Um (15%), Mitsui E&P Mozambique Area1 (20%), ONGC Videsh Rovuma (10%), Beas Rovuma Energy Mozambique (10%), BPRL Ventures Mozambique (10%), and PTTEP Mozambique Area 1 (8.5%).

Pavilion Energy imports Singapore's first carbon neutral LNG cargo

Pavilion Energy has imported its first carbon neutral LNG cargo into Singapore. Well-to-tank carbon emissions (including the extraction, production, transportation, and regasification) associated with the LNG cargo will be offset by carbon credits sourced from Pavilion Energy portfolio of carbon offset projects, in particular Evio Kuinaji Ese’Eja Cuana forest protection project in Peru and Liangdu Afforestation project in China. The deal is in line with Singapore's long-term climate change mitigation plan Singapore Green Plan 2030.

Chevron signs LNG SPA with Hokkaido Gas

Chevron announced the signing an SPA with Japanese utility Hokkaido Gas to deliver 0.5 MT of LNG to the Hokkaido area over a 5-year period starting from April 2022. LNG will be sourced from Chevron’s global LNG portfolio. This is the first LNG supply agreement between Chevron and Hokkaido Gas.

Santos takes FID on Barossa gas project

Santos announced taking FID on the Barossa gas and condensate project, located offshore the Northern Territory, Australia, which will include an FPSO vessel, subsea production wells, supporting subsea infrastructure and pipelines. The project is aimed at providing a new supply source to the 3.7 MTPA Darwin LNG plant allowing its life extension for around 20 years. The US$3.6 billion Barossa project is considered as the biggest investment in Australia’s oil and gas sector since 2012. First gas production is targeted for the first half of 2025.
