The Philippines is rapidly increasing LNG imports due to a decline in its main gas source, the Malampaya Gas Field, which will be depleted by 2027. The country began importing LNG in 2023, with imports expected to reach 1.17 mt in 2024. It currently has two LNG terminals and plans to add four more by 2026, boosting regasification capacity to 10.72 mtpa. Further expansion is planned to meet future energy needs by 2050.
