Request for capacity increase in Port of Kembla approved

The government of the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) has approved the request by Australian Industrial Energy (AIE) to increase the capacity of its proposed LNG import terminal in Port Kembla to around 2 Mt/year (or 2.7 bcm/year). AIE has reached an agreement with Höegh LNG to use the Höegh Galleon FSRU. The consortium composed by JERA, Marubeni and Squadron Energy, is now focusing on securing customers project. The final investment decision is foreseen to be taken by the end of 2020 and terminal commissioning is foreseen in 2022.
