South Korea to build more than 100 LNG carriers for Qatar

Qatar Petroleum and South Korea’s major shipyards, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI) and Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI), have signed agreements where construction capacity has been reserverd by Qatar Pretroleum to secure more than 100 LNG carriers over the next years for its future LNG carrier fleet requirements, including those for the ongoing expansion projects in the North Field and in the United States. The deal is valued at more than $19 billion.
