Sri Lanka to launch Floating Storage LNG facility

The Board of Investment of Sri Lanka and Pearl Energy (Pvt) have signed an agreement to launch “Hambantota LNG Hub”- a floating storage LNG facility, to be located at the Port of Hambantota, with the aim of trading LNG in the region due to its strategic location. The total investment of the project is US$97.2 million and operations are planned to commence within six months. The project will comprise a FSU with an initial capacity of 1 MPTA and will deploy small LNG carriers to redistribute LNG to South India and the Maldives.
