The U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) has published an annual LNG trade review in their “Today in Energy” article, featuring key data from GIIGNL Annual Report 2024. The report highlights an increase in global LNG trade in 2023, driven by expanded export/import capacities and rising natural gas demand.

Key Highlights :

  • Global LNG trade averaged 52.9 Bcf/d in 2023.
  • Significant export capacity expansion in the US, Mozambique, Russia, Indonesia, Norway, and Oman.
  • The US became the world’s largest LNG exporter, with a 12% increase in exports.
  • Major LNG import growth in Asia, led by China and India.
