Energía Costa Azul LNG takes FID

Energía Costa Azul LNG, a joint venture between Sempra LNG and Infraestructura Energética Nova (IEnova), which is Sempra Energy’s subsidiary in Mexico, has taken FID for the phase 1 of the ECA LNG export project. The 3.25 Mtpa single-train liquefaction facility, located in Baja California (Mexico), will be built at IEnova’s existing Energía Costa Azul LNG regasification terminal and is expected to start operations by 2024. The feed gas for the project will come from the United States. This is the first export project reaching FID in 2020.
