GIIGNL releases 2022 Annual Report

Today, GIIGNL released its 2022 Annual Report which summarizes the key figures and trends of the LNG industry in 2021.

As main highlights it can be noted that in 2021:

• A total of 372.3 MT were imported, representing a 4.5% growth, compared to the 356.1 MT imported in 2020,
• 136.3 MT were imported on a spot or short-term basis, representing 36.6% of total trade, compared with 40% in 2020,
• China overtook Japan as leading LNG importer, with 79.3 MT, a 15% growth over 2020
• US LNG accounted for 18% of global supply,
• Global regasification capacity reached 993 MTPA with 7 new regasification terminals coming on stream during the year,
• Global liquefaction capacity reached 462 MTPA
• The LNG carrier fleet comprised 700 vessels at the end of 2021.
