GIIGNL releases 2024 Annual Report

GIIGNL published its 2024 Annual Report which compiles the key figures and trends of the LNG market in 2023.

As usual, this comprehensive document provides detailed statistics and analyses of our industry for 2023.

  • Net LNG imports reached 401MT, representing 2.1% growth, a slowdown from the 5.6% increase in 2022
  • Spot LNG trades totaled 141MT, representing 35% of LNG imports
  • This growth was driven by Asia and the Americas whereas Europe’s demand remained stable.
  • The United States became the first LNG exporter with 84,5MT
  • Regasification capacity got to 1,143 MTPA with 17 new regasification terminals coming on stream in 2023
  • Liquefaction capacity reached 481 MTPA
  • Four FID taken in 2023 for a total of 38 MTPA
  • The LNG tankers fleet consisted of 772 vessels at the end of 2023 (+41 vessels this year)
