The new 1 MTPA Niihama LNG terminal received its first LNG cargo on January 6, 2022, supplied by a 145 000 m3 Energy Progress LNG carrier from Gorgon LNG. The cool-down process took several days. The terminal has one ground storage tank of a 230 000 m3 capacity and will supply Sumitomo Joint Electric Power’s associated 150 MW Niihama Kita CCGT Power Station.
