Mr. Takashi UCHIDA

Mr. UCHIDA has been President and CEO of Tokyo Gas since April 2018.
After graduating from Faculty of Economics at Tokyo University in 1979, Mr. UCHIDA joined Tokyo Gas. Since then, he has been consistently engaged in the gas industry for more than 40 years.
In 2009, he was appointed General Manager of the Corporate Planning Dept., responsible for the overall corporate strategy of the company, and in 2012 he had led the corporate department, mainly Human Resources, as Managing Executive Officer. After that, as Chief Executive of LNG Business and Global Division, he vigorously promoted the expansion of the company’s overseas business, and also made efforts to diversify the procurement of LNG. In 2012, he was appointed Representative Director, Executive Vice President and responsible for city gas supply in the residential sector, which has 11 million customers. In 2016, he was appointed Vice President, responsible for the residential division of city gas supply with 11 million customers. And at the same time, He proceeded with electricity business in the completely liberalized market of the electricity business for general households, and now the number of electricity customers exceeds 3 million.
He was appointed President in April 2018. Prior to the Japan government’s net zero declaration, Tokyo Gas released a corporate vision of net zero CO2 in 2019 and has made a responsible transition to both gas and renewable energy the core of its action plan and is steadily implementing measures to realize it. In April 2021, He also served as Vice Chairman of the Japan Gas Association (JGA), where he continues to contribute to the city gas business (nearly 200 Japanese city gas companies) in Japan.
